“An entheogen is a psychoactive substance used in religious, shamanic, or spiritual contexts. Entheogens can supplement many diverse practices for transcendence, and revelation, including meditation, psychedelic and visionary art, psychedelic therapy, and magic….”

mushroomsThe Plants and Fungi that have evolved alongside us on Earth have been integral to the survival of the Human species, and every other creature on our exquisite planet Earth . . . . to date.

A very select number of them have very special qualities that have been explored for millennia.  Found in every region of the World including Antarctica, alongside us for as long as we have been here, our hunter gatherer ancestors knew all about these substances and made best use of them.

visionaryMany well respected academics and researchers agree that Fungi & Psychedelic plants played a key role in the development and emergence of Homo Sapiens, some have gone further and suggest they played THE key role in Homo Sapien Sapien becoming self-aware – the proverbial “Stoned Ape” as beguilingly described by Terrence McKenna among many others.

mushrooms_in_moonlight_2Psychoactive Plants and Fungi have been our food, our medicine and a continuing source of amazement and delight in all their magnificent shapes and forms. And there’s much more to it than that.

As a means of exploring our consciousness they have always been a valuable ally when used with wisdom and respect. Here Graham Hancock, the Internationally acknowledged researcher and best selling author of many books on ancient cultures presents his infamous ‘banned’ TED Talk to do with achieving Sovereignty over our own Consciousness and how to go about exploring it. Hancock expresses it perfectly.

Particular plants and fungi have been, and remain, a sure and reliable method for exploring consciousness in all its glories and dimensions. Used by every culture on Earth, throughout the whole of recorded history and long before, freely available and positively encouraged . . . . until very recently. I wonder why might that be? Could it have anything to do with the threat they pose the pharmaceutical industry?
